In addition to the eCampaigning Forum, two other events are being organised in conjunction with the eCampaigning Forum: an as yet unnamed Public Day and a Weekend Retreat.

The purpose behind organising them to coincide with the eCampaigning Forum is:

  • To make it more worthwhile to travel to the UK for participants from around the world
  • To give all participants - UK and non-UK based - the maximum chance to interact and share expertise with people from places and organisations they may never have the chance to engage with again
  • To create opportunities for a wider group to hear from and interact with eCampaigning Forum participants

Public Event (9 May) - Participation 2007: Who's Leading Who?

The public event is open to anyone who wishes to attend. It is intended to:

  • Provide a wider community with the opportunity to learn from leading practitioners of campaigning via new media
  • Share visions of what is possible using new media for campaigning
  • Help campaigning organisation managers, staff and other stakeholders understand what is working and the potential of campaigning with new media

Weekend Retreat (12-13 May)

The weekend retreat is open to anyone who wishes to attend. It is intended to:

  • Provide the reflection space for exploring the larger questions of using new media for achieving social change
  • Strengthen peer support networks
  • Explore how to enrol and inspire colleagues and managers in using new media for achieving social change
