eCampaigning Forum 2007: Oxford, UK, 10-11 May + Extra Events
The fourth annual eCampaigning Forum takes place in Oxford, UK from 10-11 May 2007. A public event entitled "Participation 2007: Who's Leading Who?" occurs on 9 May. The first Weekend Retreat (inspired by the Web of Change event) will take place 12-13 May in the Cotswolds near Oxford.
What is it?
The eCampaigning Forum event is primarily for practitioners of e-campaigning, campaigning, new media and their managers in not-for-profit organisations. It is a space for peer-to-peer exchange since the people who attend are the experts in their areas.
Attendance is by invite only, although anyone can apply. This year only 65 places are available. Participants are accepted on their ability to contribute to other participants so that everyone gains from the event based on the selection criteria.
What is the agenda?
The event has always been more about who is attending and making an agenda that supports those people to connect and share experiences. Thus the agenda evolves over time and starts out as a framework that gets filled based on participant feedback before the event. The agenda outline is simply the starting point fort this input.
Why e-campaigning vs. campaigning?
E-campaigning is campaigning. However within campaigning there are different specialisms that each require distinct skills and knowledge. Other campaigning specialisms include policy, advocacy/lobbying, media, grassroots and mobilisation. Furthermore, campaigning using new communication technologies like the Internet and mobile phones are evolving very rapidly, as are how people and organisations use them. So a focus on e-campaigning allows people with that specialism (or where it overlaps with their work) to focus on the most rapidly evolving area of campaigning.
Who's Attending?
The list of who has been accepted as a participant is constantly being updated. You can also see from last year it is a very special group.
You can still applied and be accepted if you are interested in joining us.
